3D PRINT CARE GUIDE

Care Guide for 3D Prints Made of PLA+ and PETG

Thank you for purchasing your 3D-printed item! To ensure its longevity and maintain its appearance, please follow these care instructions tailored for PLA+ and PETG materials.

General Care Tips

  1. Handling:
  • Avoid dropping or applying excessive force to your 3D print, as this can cause cracks or deformation.
  • Handle with clean, dry hands to prevent oils or dirt from affecting the surface finish.
  1. Cleaning:
  • Dust your print gently with a soft, dry cloth or a microfibre cloth.
  • For stubborn dirt, use a damp cloth with mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they can damage the surface.
  • Do not submerge PLA+ prints in water for extended periods, as they can absorb moisture over time.

PLA+ Specific Care

  1. Heat Resistance:
  • PLA+ is sensitive to heat. Avoid leaving your print in direct sunlight, near heaters, or in cars on hot days, as it may warp or deform.
  • Ideal storage temperature is below 50°C (122°F).
  1. Storage:
  • Store PLA+ prints in a cool, dry place away from humidity to prevent degradation.
  • Use silica gel packs to keep the storage environment dry if necessary.

PETG Specific Care

  1. Heat Resistance:
  • PETG is more heat-resistant than PLA+, but prolonged exposure to temperatures above 70°C (158°F) may still cause warping or softening.
  • It is suitable for outdoor use but should not be left in extreme conditions for extended periods.
  1. Chemical Resistance:
  • PETG is resistant to most chemicals, but avoid prolonged contact with strong solvents or alcohol-based cleaners.
  • Rinse with water immediately if exposed to corrosive substances.
  1. Flexibility:
  • PETG is more flexible than PLA+ but can still crack under excessive stress. Handle with care to prevent damage.

Long-Term Maintenance

  1. Repairs:
  • Minor cracks or breaks can often be repaired using cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). For PETG, epoxy adhesives may provide a stronger bond.
  • Sanding and repainting can restore the appearance of worn or scratched areas. Use fine-grit sandpaper and PLA/PETG-compatible paints.
  1. Protective Coating:
  • To enhance durability, consider applying a clear, UV-resistant spray coating to protect against sunlight and wear.

Recycling and Disposal

  • Both PLA+ and PETG are recyclable, but check your local recycling guidelines to ensure proper disposal.
  • PLA+ is biodegradable in industrial composting facilities, though this may not apply to home composting setups.

By following these guidelines, your 3D-printed items will remain in excellent condition for years to come. If you have any further questions about care or maintenance, please feel free to contact us.
